Data sources
Where Whaleboard gets balances, prices, APRs and validator data.
Whaleboard reads data directly from public blockchain endpoints and a few public APIs. It has no account system and doesn't store your portfolio on a server — your settings, chain selection and watched addresses live in your browser.
Balances and staking
| Ecosystem | Source |
|---|---|
| Cosmos | Each chain's public RPC endpoints from the Cosmos chain registry. If one endpoint fails, the next one is tried. |
| EVM | Public RPC endpoints for each chain. |
| Solana | A keyed RPC endpoint when configured, with public endpoints as fallback. Stake accounts require the keyed endpoint. |
Prices
USD prices and 24h changes come from CoinGecko. Prices are cached for 60 seconds on the server. If CoinGecko is unavailable, the last known prices are used.
APR and validators
| Data | Source |
|---|---|
| Cosmos APR | Cosmos Directory, or computed from the chain's mint and distribution parameters |
| Solana APR | Computed from Solana's inflation rate, supply and active stake |
| Cosmos validators | Read on-chain (bonded validators only) |
| Solana validators | Stakewiz — names, logos, commission and APY |
APRs and the Solana validator list are cached for 10 minutes.
Token lists
- Cosmos — token names, logos and decimals come from the chain registry's asset lists. Tokens not listed there aren't shown.
- EVM — tokens from the Uniswap default token list, plus a few additions (such as wstETH). Tokens outside these lists aren't shown.
- Solana — every SPL token in your wallet is shown. Names and logos come from Jupiter's token API. USD prices are available for SOL and common tokens (USDC, USDT, mSOL, JitoSOL, bSOL, JUP, BONK).
